Deion Sanders has all the hope in the world that Bill Belichick will be a great hire for UNC after the Tar Heels announced the beginning of the "Chapel Bill" era. Coach Prime also shared a shoutout to Belichick's good friend, Nick Saban, in his December 12 tweet.
"Coach Bill Belichick is a coaches Coach to All us Coaches along with my man Coach Saban! They’re game changers and they know how to move people forward," Sanders tweeted. "I know this is a great thing for College Football & for North Carolina. God bless u Coach, if you’re happy I am 2!"
Belichick being hired in Chapel Hill is one of the sport's wildest developments since, well, Coach Prime's hiring two years ago. Belichick was the New England Patriots head coach for 23 years during the franchise's golden years. Many believe Tom Brady was the reason for the team's success, and TB12 certainly made a good case for that thought when he led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Super Bowl in his first season away from Foxborough. Certainly, Belichick has the chance to show his coaching greatness in his first collegiate coaching job.
Belichick is reportedly set to receive a $20 million+ NIL payroll in his first season. That figure will fluctuate in the coming years depending on the Tar Heels' success.
Whether or not Belichick works out, it's clear he has a supporter in Boulder who understands what it takes to succeed in college after spending the majority of his life in NFL circles.
