A team that was 4-8 last season has an unfathomable chance to be a Big 12 title contender this year? As wild as that sounds, Deion Sanders's Colorado football team has done it. Or rather, they're just one step away from making it there.

Colorado welcomes Kansas State to Folsom Field in Week 7, and with a win, they can be established as a serious Big 12 contender.

Deion Sanders said that being a Big 12 title contender is the standard when asked about it.

"We expect that,” Sanders said to reporters. “Some of us are still upset about the Nebraska game. We wish we had that right now because we feel like we weren’t where we are than where we are now. We really expect that. It’s not being cocky or anything like that. It’s what we expect.”

If Deion Sanders and Co. manage to snag this win, they will not only surpass their previous season's total wins (4) but they will also be the unranked team that defeated the No.18 team which is already a favorite in the Big 12 race.

Crain & Company's Jake Crain also believes that this will be the true test for Sanders and his team as they will have to "earn" this win.

"Beat KSU this weekend," Crain prefaced before saying, "You wanted this opportunity. You earned it. To win this game, CU and Deion Sanders deserve their flowers. The conversation then turns to the Big12 Title and CFP."

If things don't go as planned for Colorado, they might have their chance to get into the Big 12 championship talks later in the season, but losing this one might end up costly.
