Deion Sanders unveils Colorado football's 'nice' aim to honor superfan Miss Peggy Coppom
Deion Sanders is not settling for anything less than a "nice bowl" this season, thanks to Colorado's 99-year-old superfan, Miss Peggy Coppom.
Coming off a smooth, dominating 34-7 win against Arizona, Colorado football will now be chasing bowl eligibility, but their aim would only be the best bowl. It will be their way of honoring Miss Peggy, an ardent Colorado fan cheering for the Buffs since 1940s.
"We gotta get Peggy straight," Sanders during an October 19 postgame press conference. "We don’t want to just get Peggy to a bowl. Peggy’s got taste, Peggy’s sophisticated, she’s a lady, so we want to make sure we get her to a nice bowl, not just any bowl."
It would be the most memorable gift Miss Coppom would receive on her 100th birthday, on November 19.
Deion Sanders's mantra for winning
While the intention is all good, Coach Prime also has the fiery zeal necessary to not lose another game.
"We ain't where we want to be, but we sure ain't where we used to be," Sanders said in his press conference.
"We want to win. We want to win at all costs. … I don’t want to just win on the field, I want to win off the field. I want to win in the classroom. I want to win in the communities. … I want to win in all facets of life with these young men and that’s something I think we’re on our way to doing."
Their loss to K-State was disappointing, but Chris Klieman and Co. are Big 12 favorites. Keeping that loss aside, if Colorado gets their next games under his belt, they still have a shot at the College Football Playoff.
