The hype continues to build for Incarnate Word transfer RB Dekalon Taylor. He keeps flashing in practice and in scrimmages, signaling that he's going to be a huge part of the Colorado offense in 2025, both as a runner and as a receiver. He's also a former All-Conference return man and will likely fill the void in the return game left by LaJohntay Wester.
Taylor has received rave reviews in camp from the coaching staff and his teammates. Fans got a glimpse of what all the fuss has been about in a video from Saturday's scrimmage that found its way to social media:

Can you see why his nickname is Trackhawk?
Taylor shows his versatility in that clip as he's split out wide and catching what appears to be a bubble screen. He makes the grab, outruns a defender to the edge, and then makes a soul-snatching cut at the 40-yard line before racing up the middle of the field. He makes another nasty cut deep in opponent territory before it appears he gets caught just a few yards away from the endzone.
Dekalon Taylor is going to be a major part of the Colorado offense
Deion Sanders has a trio of talented running backs who he is confident can play winning football. While Micah Welch and Dallas Hayden are quality football players, neither brings the game-breaking ability that Taylor does.
So, regardless of which back is listed as the "starter," it has become clear in camp that Taylor is going to be a major focal point of the Colorado offensive attack. He's going to make plays in the rushing and passing game.
Taylor is one of the reasons that Sanders and company seem committed to running the football in 2025. Coach Prime recently said that Colorado was going to win "differently" than they did a year ago, but they were going to win regardless. Last year, the Buffs finished dead last in the FBS in rushing yards per game. They won't be anywhere close to the bottom this year.
Along with the talented running backs, senior QB Kaidon Salter brings a true dual-threat ability to the QB position that the Buffaloes didn't have the last couple of seasons. The offensive line is also expected to be much improved and deeper than it has been in the Coach Prime era thus far.
Taylor is set up to have a monster season, one that will likely put him on the national radar sooner rather than later.
