The Denver Post's Troy Renck threw Shilo Sanders under the bus for being in the headlines instead of his brother Shedeur following Colorado football's 37-21 loss to Kansas in Week 13.

"For the Buffs to win, they needed a Sanders in the headline — just not that one. Shedeur in the big type or Deion in bold meant a victory. Shilo? Not so much. The senior safety struggled again. Sanders recorded three penalties — a horse collar tackle, offsides and personal foul — in a game where discipline and winning in the margins was critical. Sanders was not the reason the Buffs lost. But he was in on too many tackles and on the wrong end of too many penalties, symbolizing a CU defense that offered no resistance to a KU offense that did not punt once and exceeded 500 yards. Needing its best performance, CU’s D delivered its worst," Renck wrote.

Sanders once again played a sloppy and overzealous game. He's had a history of this since the Oregon game in 2023 but this was the highest-profile gaffe yet. Colorado is no longer in the College Football Playoff hunt and his name is associated with the loss.

Worse yet, the Buffs are 5-3 with him and 3-0 without him. That's not all on him, or even remotely close, but that could of stat will be noticed by NFL scouts.

It's unclear if Shilo will be drafted, though if Shedeur already has a destination in mind -- and it seems like he does -- there could be a package deal secured and executed with a later draft pick used on the former.

If he doesn't, he still has legal issues to contend with relating to a payment that his 2015 assault victim, John Darjean, is seeking for the damages done by the incident.
