The Shedeur Sanders-Travis Hunter duo was one of the most prolific in college football last season and helped Colorado take a big second-year leap under Deion Sanders. The Buffaloes went from four wins in Coach Prime's debut all the way to nine wins in 2024, just missing a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game due to a tiebreaker.
Now, both Sanders and Hunter have moved on to the NFL, leaving a major void for Colorado. But the cupboards are not bare, and Coach Prime has plenty of talent to field a competitive football team in 2025.
During Tuesday's practice, one play gave Colorado fans a glimpse of what could be the next dynamic duo in Boulder.
The clip from practice shows Liberty transfer QB Kaidon Salter throwing a dime for a touchdown to rising junior WR Omarion Miller:

Kaidon Salter and Omarion Miller could be an elite duo for Colorado
Salter is in a fierce competition with freshman JuJu Lewis for the starting QB job. Sanders indicated at Big 12 Media Days that he's not sure which will start, and his decision to bring both QBs with him to Frisco further illuminates that point.
But Salter is the favorite. He's the veteran with multiple years of starting experience under his belt from his time at Liberty. His dual-threat ability can be a new wrinkle to the Colorado offense. Shedeur Sanders was an elite passer, but nobody was going to mistake him for Lamar Jackson as a runner. Along with throwing for over 4700 yards in the last two seasons with the Flames, Salter has rushed for over 1600 yards.
Salter will likely be a one-year bridge QB as Lewis sits back and develops to get ready to take over the starting gig in 2026.
Miller won't play both ways like Hunter, but he looks primed for a big breakout season in his third year in the program. Miller was an afterthought the last two seasons, catching a combined 21 passes for 450 yards and two touchdowns. The Buffaloes are in the midst of a major overhaul at wide receiver: the team's four leading receivers from last season are all gone.
That opens up a major opportunity for Miller, a player who the coaching staff and local media have been high on for quite some time. He's likely to become a household name this season in Boulder, and his obvious early chemistry with Salter is a big step toward his expected breakout.
