According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, former Cal running back Jaivian Thomas is set to visit Boulder on Tuesday and Wednesday. And if you watched him in the ACC last year, you know this would be a big-time get.
Thomas is a burner. Listed at 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, the Oakland native had a breakout sophomore year at Cal, putting up 626 yards and seven touchdowns on just 100 carries. His performance against San Diego State—17 carries for 169 yards—was one of the top single-game outputs in the conference last season.
He also ripped off a 75-yard touchdown against Syracuse, showing off the type of home-run ability Colorado's offense could use.
After Saturday’s Black & Gold spring game, Coach Prime made it clear he’s looking to bring in two more running backs from the portal. Landing Thomas would definitely be a major step in the right direction.
It’s not official yet, but a player like Thomas doesn’t take visits for no reason. He’s the best RB left in the portal. The visit is real. The interest is real. And if the fit feels right, Colorado might be adding a serious weapon to the backfield.
