Former Colorado defensive back Isreal Solomon is headed to the SEC. The redshirt freshman has committed to Ole Miss, becoming the latest addition to Lane Kiffin’s nationally ranked transfer class.
Solomon, a native of Dallas, Texas, spent his true freshman season at Colorado in 2023 but did not appear in a game before transferring to Hawaii last offseason. He saw brief action in one game for the Rainbow Warriors in 2024 before re-entering the portal this spring.
A 6-foot-0, 180-pound cornerback, Solomon brings a strong background to Oxford. He spent three seasons at Santa Margarita Catholic in California before transferring to IMG Academy for his senior year. At IMG, he served as defensive captain and recorded 45 tackles, four interceptions, five pass breakups, and 2.5 sacks while earning Player of the Week honors six times. He was also a Junior Olympic boxer.
Despite not seeing the field at Colorado, Solomon was part of Deion Sanders’ first recruiting cycle in Boulder as a preferred walk-on. After transferring to Hawaii, he made a brief appearance in UH’s matchup against Boise State but remained largely under the radar during the 2024 season.
Now at Ole Miss, Solomon joins a transfer-heavy defensive back room that includes recent additions from programs like LSU, Arkansas, South Alabama, Washington State, Clemson, and Auburn. Coach Kiffin has spoken openly about the challenge of integrating so many new players into his secondary.
Ole Miss, which finished 10–3 last season, is expected to contend in the SEC again behind what ranks as one of the top portal classes in the country. The Rebels have landed 30 transfer players this cycle, including 10 with four-star grades, according to 247Sports.
Solomon becomes the latest former Buff to land at a Power Five program as Colorado’s secondary continues to undergo major changes. With Travis Hunter, Shilo Sanders, and Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig all moving on to the NFL, Coach Prime has reloaded the defensive backfield through the portal, bringing in Makari Vickers (Oklahoma), Noah King (Kansas State), and Terrance Love (Auburn).
For Solomon, while his time in Boulder may have ended quietly, his story isn’t finished—and now he’ll get an opportunity to prove himself in the SEC.
