It hurts to see Trevor Woods still floating in the portal.
For those of us who were riding with Colorado before the cameras showed up—back when Folsom was half full and hope was just a rumor—Woods was a bright spot. One of the few who didn’t jump ship. One of the only players from that 1-11 nightmare in 2022 who Coach Prime didn’t cut.
He earned that.
And yet, here we are in April 2025, and he’s still waiting on a team to believe in him again.
Woods gave everything to Colorado. He played physical, smart football at safety in 2022 and 2023, racking up 135 tackles and three picks over those two seasons. Then came the linebacker experiment in 2024—a move he didn’t ask for but embraced with everything he had.
He bulked up, started Week 1, and even notched 10 tackles in the opener. But you could tell—it just wasn’t his game. He’s a natural safety, plain and simple.
The man was once compared to Brian Urlacher by Prime himself. And while that transition didn’t work out, the heart, hustle, and humility never left. Now, he’s made it clear: he wants to play safety again.
And someone needs to give him that shot.
Trevor Woods isn't just another name in the portal. He's a real one. A Buffs lifer. And wherever he lands, they’re getting a guy who knows how to fight, how to lead—and how to play the game the right way.
I’ll be rooting for him no matter what colors he puts on next. Always.
