Former Colorado guard Derrick White has been a key contributor to a Boston Celtics team that is down their best player in Jayson Tatum.

In the NBA Playoffs back in March, Tatum ruptured his Achilles tendon, and hasn't played since. With Tatum out, Boston was going to require contributions from everyone.

Derrick White has been one of them

It was the most blocked shots a Celtics guard has ever recorded in a game, as White blocked seven shots in the Celtics' most recent win over the Utah Jazz Tuesday night.

Despite getting posterized by Jazz rookie Walter Clayton Jr., White scored a team-high 27 points on 8-of-16 shooting, while going a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe.

Over the last seven games, White has averaged 22.6 points per contest on 43.0% shooting from the field. He has also added 5.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.3 blocks over that span while shooting 92.9% from the free throw line.

He's certainly making his case for the NBA All-Star Game.

As of right now, the Celtics (20-12) are ranked third in the Eastern Conference, just 4.5 games behind the one-seeded Pistons.

White transferred to the University of Colorado from Division II University of Colorado-Colorado Springs back in April of 2015. He had to sit out the 2015-16 season due to the NCAA transfer rules at the time.

He didn't disappoint in his only season as a Buff.

It was White who led the team in scoring averaging 18.1 points per game, leading the Buffs to an overall record of 19-15.

As a result of his performance, he was named to the 2016-17 All-Pac 12 team, the Pac-12 All-Defensive team, and the 2017 All-Pac 12 Tournament team.
