Adding to the news surrounding the Transfer Portal and the College Football Playoff, Colorado pass rush coordinator Warren Sapp expressed his thoughts on Texas school football on X (formerly known as Twitter).

In a now-deleted post, Sapp called Texas high school football "fake football."

It was in response to this post about Class of 2027 running back SaRod Baker, whom the Buffs actually just offered.

Warren Sapp stirs up controversy on social media

The fact that Sapp may or may not have known that they offered the player is one thing, but it's just a bad look in general.

Sapp is a native of Orlando, Florida so we know where he stands on this matter. He played football at Apopka High School in Apoka, Florida, where he holds the team records for sacks and tackles for loss.

It’s not exactly a smart move on Sapp’s part, especially when Colorado recruits heavily in the state of Texas.

There are many Texas natives on Colorado’s roster, including DJ McKinney, Quentin Gibson, Quanell Farrakhan Jr., Dre'lon Miller, and Joseph Williams just to name a few.

Furthermore, Coach Prime and company recently had two players from the state of Texas sign their letter of intent to join Colorado's 2026 class.

Those two are four-star linebacker Carson Crawford out of Carthage, Texas and three-star defensive back Braylon Edwards out of Duncanville, Texas.

This afternoon, Sapp has been getting roasted on X, and it's understandable. It's not in his best interests to belittle high school players' accomplishments. In addition to setting a bad example for himself, the university also looks bad.
