We've never seen a coaching staff like this.
The Deion Sanders effect keeps rolling in Boulder, and its on an entirely new level. With the additions of former NFL standouts like Byron Leftwich, Marshall Faulk, and Domata Peko, the Buffs have stacked up one of the most NFL-experienced staffs in college football history.
Byron Leftwich, who coached Tom Brady to a Super Bowl in Tampa Bay, is now in Boulder helping guide five-star quarterback Julian Lewis. The former first-round pick and offensive mastermind brings a wealth of experience, including leading an offense that averaged 30.4 points per game over two seasons with the Buccaneers. Pairing Leftwich with Pat Shurmur is a power move that gives Colorado one of the best quarterback coaching duos in the country.
Then there’s Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk, one of the greatest offensive minds to ever play the game. His presence in Boulder is nothing short of legendary. Adding a player-coach of Faulk’s caliber instantly raises the standard in the RB room. Players can now hear firsthand how the “Greatest Show on Turf” operated, giving them an edge no other program can offer.
Domata Peko, a longtime NFL defensive lineman, adds another layer of toughness and pro experience to the trenches. A guy who spent over a decade in the league knows what it takes to succeed at the highest level. His influence will be crucial as Colorado looks to beef up its front lines. Not to mention he's teaming up with the powerhouse of Warren Sapp.
Coach Prime has rewrote the script on how a college program should operate. Hiring former NFL greats isn’t just about recruiting buzz—it’s about preparing players for the next level. Colorado isn’t just competing in the Big 12. They’re building an NFL pipeline in Boulder.
