The star of the Colorado Buffaloes was drafted second overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. Then, Travis Hunter, the legendary two-way player, was listed as a WR1 for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Now, Hunter has been placed on Injured Reserve, just a few weeks into his rookie season, which was supposed to be one for the record books.

Hunter suffered an apparent non-contact knee injury during practice on Thursday and will be sidelined for at least four games, if not longer. In a mid-week press conference, Jacksonville coach Liam Coen updated the media on Hunter's status.

"We're currently assessing the injury just to determine the best course of action moving forward for Travis and the team," Coen said4-3. "You just feel bad for the guy, for the kid, for our team, for everything. But he's in good spirits right now. Minor setback for a major comeback. That's just the way it's gotta be."

  • 28 receptions
  • 298 receiving yards
  • 1 touchdown
  • 15 total tackles (11 solo)
  • 3 pass deflections

While Hunter was named a WR1 for the Jags, he was further down the depth chart for Jacksonville's defensive secondary, earning a spot as a CB2 behind veteran defensive back Jarrian Jones.

Hunter played in all seven of Jacksonville's games so far this season before going down with his injury. He accounted for 12 first downs and only fumbled on one occasion before recovering his own dropped ball.

While Hunter will be sidelined for the upcoming matchup, the Jaguars are set to visit the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, Nov. 2.

Jacksonville (4-3 overall, 1-1 away) and Las Vegas (2-5 overall, 1-2 at home) are scheduled to kick off at 2:05 p.m. MT on Sunday, and the game will be broadcast on FOX.
