Travis Hunter is doing it again—and this time, all of Jacksonville should be excited.

The Jacksonville Jaguars officially kicked off training camp this week, and former Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter is already exciting everybody with how the team plans to use him.

Head coach Liam Coen confirmed today what we've been hoping to hear: Yes, Travis Hunter is going to play both ways. Offense and defense. Wide receiver and cornerback. Just like he did in Boulder.

“He will,” Coen said when asked about it after the first practice. “Probably within the first six practices or so… then that will become the norm.”

No surprise there, but we are excited to hear this will be part of the game plan.

Easing into the two-way grind

The Jaguars aren’t throwing everything at Hunter all at once. According to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco, he took 14 snaps on Day 1—all on offense. Two catches in 7-on-7s. One more in 11-on-11s. Nothing earth-shattering, but a solid start.

And that’s kind of the point. The Jags are smartly working him into the rhythm of the NFL before asking him to pull double duty like he did at Colorado.

The plan is to give Hunter a couple days on offense, a couple on defense, and then start mixing roles within the same practice. And if history tells us anything, that’s when Hunter will shine.

Colorado prepped him for this

If you forgot just how insane Travis Hunter’s workload was last season, here’s a refresher:

96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns

35 tackles, 11 pass breakups, 4 interceptions

Averaged over 100 snaps per game. That’s unheard of.

And he made it look easy.

There were moments at Folsom Field when he was the best player on both sides of the ball. Like the Baylor game, which I'll never forget, when he had 7 receptions for 130 yards and also had three tackles and the game-winning walk-off forced fumble in overtime to secure the Buffs victory over the Bears.

So yeah, he’s built for this.

Travis is putting in the work

What makes this transition even more impressive is that Hunter’s not just relying on talent. He's been grinding.

Just before camp began, he was already getting in reps with Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence and rookie wideout Brian Thomas Jr. It's good to see from a rookie—especially one playing two positions—is rare.

He wants this. Not just to play or prove he belongs. But to make a real impact from Day 1.

The awards talk will come

Of course, now that the plan is public, the speculation has started.

Could Travis Hunter be a legit candidate for both Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year?

Sure, it sounds crazy. But is it really?

He’s the first player in decades to actually be given a shot to play both ways in the NFL. And if he even comes close to replicating what he did at CU, the league won’t know how to categorize him or stop him.

It’s surreal watching so many of our guys from Boulder in NFL Training Camps this week. First it was Shedeur in Cleveland, now it’s Travis making waves in Jacksonville.

This isn’t just a cool story but it is confirmation that Colorado football is back on the map, producing real pros and it's just going to get better each year.

With Coach Prime leading the charge in Boulder, you can’t help but think more names will be next.

For now, though, we’ll just be glued to Jaguars camp updates, as Travis does what Travis does.
