Deion Sanders and Jerry Jones have discussed the Dallas Cowboys head coach vacancy that was created Sunday when the franchise moved on from Mike McCarthy. There hasn't been an official interview yet, but the two are talking. Several NFL reporters, including Adam Schefter and Ed Werder, have confirmed FOX Sports analyst Jordan Schultz's initial report.

The Landry Hat's Jerry Trotta isn't so sure Jones' intentions are pure. Trotta believes there's a chance the dastardly Dallas owner could be using Coach Prime for his own cause to mess with the media.

"The million-dollar question is if Jones is actually serious about hiring Sanders or if this is simply a media grab for attention. While Jones said in a statement Monday that the team will 'commence the search process immediately' he has also implied in the past that Sanders is best suited in college because of his ability to recruit," Trotta wrote.

Interestingly enough, the possibility Sanders was also using Jones was floated by KOA Colorado's Benjamin Allbright.

"Jerry would owe Colorado $8mil buyout if he were to actually hire Deion Sanders away," Allbright wrote.

"Most people I know look at this as a contract leverage play from Sanders’ side and Jerry being PT Barnum from the Dallas side."

There's plenty of skepticism from all sides on this arrangement. It goes against everything both men had been saying. Knowing that the two are friends increases the likelihood they'd be working together, but at the same time, it also makes it possible that one has been able to convince the other they were wrong before.

Coach Prime only wants the NFL if his sons are involved. Every team wants Shedeur, but Shilo may be a tougher sell as an NFL-caliber talent. Jones likely wouldn't fret bringing on Shilo if that's what it'd take to bring on his preferred coaching choice.

There's probably more smoke to this being real than the two simply using each other to benefit their current situations.
