Julian Lewis committing to Colorado football gives Deion Sanders an urgent reason to stay for at least the next three to four seasons. It gives top recruits around the country an enticing reason to be in Boulder.
And it's the gift that keeps on giving. Lewis will be enrolling early after December and join the team immediately.
"As to when Julian Lewis will arrive in Boulder to start his career, he's not wasting any time. Lewis will graduate in December, and enroll at Colorado almost immediately, giving him a head start on his path towards becoming the starting quarterback," OutKick's Trey Wallace relayed.
If the Buffs are still in the College Football Playoff field in January, Lewis will be able to practice alongside Shedeur Sanders and meet his future skill position weapons like Drelon Miller, Isaiah Augustave, Micah Welch, Dallan Hayden, and Charlie Offerdahl. That's a win for next season. Stacking wins is how Coach Prime stays.
Speaking of Sanders, Lewis credited Coach Prime's promises to him for immediate playing time as a reason he gave Colorado his commitment.
"Coach Prime has always said that the best man is going to play and that's really what I wanted was to compete, start as a freshman," Julian Lewis said on the Pat McAfee show. "I wouldn’t have much fun sitting on the bench, so I wanted to come to a place that gives me a chance to play. He's gonna let me compete for that, so that was big for me."
Sanders doesn't look like he has plans to ditch Boulder anytime soon.
