Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio heard Deion Sanders' "kickstand" comments on November 19 and decided to interpret it his own way; projecting Coach Prime to leave Colorado football despite his rhetoric.

"The kickstand metaphor might be perfect. It’s arguably the best way to describe every college coach. Kickstands are meant to be put down, until they’re put up," Florio wrote.

"It’s perfect for Deion, who seems to be destined to climb the ladder to a bigger job, the same way he climbed from Jackson State to Colorado. The question is whether he takes another college job, or whether he goes to the NFL."

Sanders shared his metaphor while speaking to reporters days before Colorado's Week 13 clash with Kansas.

“I’m happy where I am, man,” Sanders said. “I’m good. I got a kickstand down. . . . It means I’m resting. I’m good. I’m happy. I’m excited. I’m enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here. Truly do. Next question.”

CU AD Rick George rebuked takes like Florio's on the November 17 edition of the “Zero 2 Sixty Podcast," claiming that Coach Prime loves Boulder and doesn't plan on leaving.

“I think there’s a lot of people out there that, you know, wanna say he’s just jumping in Boulder and he’s out of here. Deion’s not going anywhere. The guy is committed here. He’s just getting started, and I feel really good about our relationship and his love of Boulder and our tradition here, and the community’s embraced him," George said (h/t Pro Football Network).

CBS Sports' source-digging led them to the conclusion that Deion is sticking in Colorado for at least the 2025 season.

Things change quickly in this business, but Coach Prime sounds secure at CU.
