Travis Hunter was the No. 4 pick in a 2025 NFL mock draft from CBS Sports' Josh Edwards. Surprisingly, Hunter was behind Arizona receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who No. 12 held to just five catches for 38 yards in a 34-7 win over Arizona in October.
Edwards called McMillan the "best player" on the board after quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward.
"Offensive line has to be a priority for the Patriots, but Tetairoa McMillan may be higher ranked on their board. Most draft decision-makers would tell you that best player available outweighs need, but this would be an interesting case study to that point with the Patriots," Edwards wrote of McMillan.
Meanwhile, Edwards was hung up on Hunter's position affecting his draft stock while speaking of the two-way superstar.
"If Travis Hunter Jr. mandates playing wide receiver as opposed to cornerback, then that could impact how teams view him in the draft. The Panthers need a cornerback, but a top-10 draft choice on a receiver may be too rich considering they have used a lot of draft capital on the position recently with Jonathan Mingo and Xavier Legette," Edwards wrote.
Hunter is starting to rack up awards, so if anything, this kind of decision would get Patriots GM Eliot Wolf in trouble.
Outside of the Raiders and Giants, which need a franchise QB for the future after Derek Carr never got the former over the hump, not to mention Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell failing to properly replace him, and Daniel Jones crashing out for New York in 2024; leading to his release.
Hunter is a top-five lock come April, but falling behind McMillan is the furthest thing from a lock.
