Shedeur Sanders doesn't have the athleticism or dual-threat abilities Cam Ward does, but he's still projected to be an intriguing NFL prospect.
It sounded like NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah was going to recognize the "Grown QB" as QB1 in the 2025 draft, but ultimately, though Jeremiah sees a lot of what Shedeur does as "irrefutable," and projects him to be a franchise pillar in the pros.
“There’s pretty split opinions around the leagues,” Jeremiah explained on The Pat McAfee Show, per On3. “It’s pretty polarizing, actually. But to me, when you watch [Sanders], there’s things you can’t — they’re irrefutable. He has got just a pure, pure throwing motion. He is a natural thrower. It is really pretty, the way the ball comes out of his hand. He’s extremely accurate. He’s incredibly tough. He got the living now tar kicked out of him over the last few years there at Colorado. Those things you can’t refute.
“Now, the people that aren’t as high on Shedeur are going to say, ‘Well, he doesn’t have elite size. He doesn’t have an elite arm. He’s not an elite athlete.’ So it’s like, ‘Everything he does is right here. He doesn’t do those other things over the line.’ So, that’s where some of the, you know, disconnect comes, around the league. I think if you get him in the right place, you protect him, he’s a point guard. He can be very, very efficient.
“So I think him and Cam Ward, that’s going to be a fun discussion. I have Cam Ward right now over him, but I have both those guys as the clear cut, top two guys. And there’s so many quarterback-needy teams that are going to have opportunities there in the top ten, I think they both go up there, in the top ten.”
Top 10 would be disappointing if Shedeur falls out of the top five. Perhaps if Deion Sanders' threat of being "an Eli" works, the team Shedeur wants to land will take him later than most project him to land.
