When it comes to national championships, Nick Saban and Pat McAfee don't joke around. So, if Colorado follows the advice of the College GameDay hosts, he might as well be headed to the national championship.
"If they can protect Shedeur they’ve got a shot at a national championship," McAfee said on College GameDay. Saban agreed with a prompt "Exactly."
Protecting their QB is one of the major problems the Buffs have improved over in this season. Last season they went 4-8 because of this fatal flaw. After improving this season, they're already 7-2, looking at a possible Big 12 title and a playoff spot after a long wait.
So, although vouching for Deion might come off as Saban making up for his past action of picking Central Florida against the Buffs, a prediction that proved to be sorely wrong, it's not. After their dominant 41-27 win over Texas Tech, Colorado is predicted to be in the playoff bubble, if not in the top 12 teams.
Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter headline the game yet again
Colorado made up for a slow 13-0 start in their second quarter with 10 points. Once they had the Red Raiders in the reach, QB Shedeur Sanders went for a touchdown and domination. His lithe in-and-out-of-the-pocket plays allowed him to tally 291 yards and three touchdowns without an interception, going 30/43 passing.
Travis Hunter, the two-way star, on the other hand, hauled in nine receptions for 99 yards and a touchdown on the offensive side of the ball, because defensively, the Raiders hardly gave him a chance. Yet, his performance, perfectly in sync with CU's offense is the key to their progress as a team.
They continue to do that and Colorado might surprise us as the National Championship contenders for all we know.
