One year ago today, Colorado fans witnessed one of the most electrifying moments in Buffs basketball history. KJ Simpson delivered a dagger at the buzzer to lift No. 10 Colorado over No. 7 Florida in a 102-100 classic that had March Madness written all over it.

Colorado looked to be cruising with a 94-81 lead and just over four minutes remaining. But as the saying goes, "March is unpredictable." Florida stormed back with a 19-6 run, tying the game at 100 with 9.5 seconds left. Cue KJ Simpson.

With the game on the line, Simpson took the inbounds pass, worked his way to the right corner, and pulled up for a jumper. The ball danced on the rim before finally falling, sending Buffs fans into a frenzy. Florida’s last-second heave missed, and Colorado escaped with a win for the ages.

This wasn’t just a win—it was a statement. Simpson led the Buffs with 21 points, while Eddie Lampkin Jr. matched his energy with 21 of his own. Colorado’s offense was red-hot, shooting a scorching 63% from the field.

That victory propelled the Buffs into the second round against Marquette, marking one of the biggest tournament moments in recent CU history.

We are missing the Buffs in the big dance this year, but the image of Simpson’s game-winner is still fresh in the mind.
