One anonymous AFC GM told ESPN's Matt Miller (subscription required) that two-way Colorado football star Travis Hunter is better off focusing on the receiver position in the NFL as opposed to the position he became the No. 1 prospect in the country at in 2022: corner.

The GM sees Hunter as a more natural receiver than a defender.

"I think he's a more natural receiver," the GM said. "To excel at corner, he'd really have to dedicate himself to the technique and craft. At receiver, his athleticism shines."

This is now the second time Miller has reported being told that about Hunter. Miller heard that back in June as well.

"(WR's) where Hunter's speed and electric ability with the ball in his hands is best utilized, whereas at cornerback he would need to focus on technique more and rely less on winning with speed," Miller said (h/t BuffsBeat).

It's not shocking like it once was.

Travis Hunter's NFL pro comp: Garrett Wilson

NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah compared Hunter to the No. 10 pick in the 2022 NFL draft, New York Jets receiver Garrett Wilson.

" I know this is lofty praise, but his movement skills and run-after-catch ability remind me of Garrett Wilson when he was coming out of Ohio State," Jeremiah wrote. "I loved Wilson in the 2022 NFL Draft, viewing him as the best receiver (and No. 4 overall prospect) in his class. In two years with the New York Jets, the former No. 10 overall pick has been outstanding, producing a pair of 1,000-yard seasons despite some severe challenges at the quarterback position. I believe Wilson is on the cusp of being a top-five NFL wideout, if he's not there already. I see similar traits and tools when Hunter is on the offensive side of the ball."

Hunter has a major challenge ahead in 2024: convince draft scouts that he is in fact a shutdown corner. That'll exponentially increase his value as a draft prospect next April.
