Boulder writer sends strong statement on Colorado football after Dylan Edwards's TD for K-State

Dylan Edwards returned a punt for a 17-yard TD on September 13 for K-State in a 31-7 win over Arizona caught the attention of the college football world -- and for all the right reasons, except one. Interestingly a Buffs beat writer is taking the road less traveled, and has found a negative reason to frown on the history-etching TD.

"Dylan Edwards takes back a punt for K-State against Arizona. These RBs that couldn't get the job done for #CuBuffs sure seem to be getting their jobs done elsewhere," BuffZone writer Pat Rooney said, or rather complained on X, from the Wildcats RB.

Even though bitter, Rooney's observation shed light on a heavy factor holding Colorado back ever since Deion Sanders stepped in as the Buffs' head coach. During his time with CU, Edwards averaged a mediocre 4.5 yards per rush attempt and only managed to snag a single TD throughout the season.

The same Edwards has now amassed two TDs just three games into the season, averaging a whopping 9.5 yards per rush attempt, further proving Rooney's point.

Who's to blame? The Colorado football players or Deion Sanders and Co.?

Sanders' OL faults were on complete display in the 2023 season. What wasn't was behind the scenes. Former Buffs players like Cormani McClain and Xavier Smith planted the doubt of favoritism in practice.

However, per Rooney's tweet, we can't ignore the obvious other factors.

So who's to blame? We might never know.

What we can say, however, is that Edwards now seems in a place favorable to him and Sanders appears to have an OL he is happy with.
