Bucky Sanders shared a sad screenshot showing an August conversation between Deion Sanders and Rich Homie Quan just weeks before the rapper's untimely death on September September 5, 2024 -- one that showed how excited Dequantes Devontay Lamar was to hear from Coach Prime.

Deion Jr. quote-tweeted a message from his father to Lamar's family to get in contact with the mind behind Well Off Media, Bucky.

It's clear the Colorado head coach was heartbroken.

"Lord that news regarding Rich Homie Quan Hurt," Coach Prime tweeted. "I just spoke to my brother a couple of weeks ago. He introduced me to his son that was playing youth football. They were gonna come to a game. Will someone from the family please reach my son (Deion Sanders Jr.) . We’re praying for y’all."

Deion Sanders paid tribute to an Atlanta-area rap icon

Rich Homie Quan was 34 years old and grew up in the Atlanta area. Deion's name had clout in the ATL. Lamar grew up seeing Sanders further the legend he made in his playing days by becoming a great coach at the HBCU level at Jackson State.

Tragically, just as Lamar and Sanders were forming a relationship, the rapper passed away. It was less than a month after the two connected when they had to part ways.

Rich Homie Quan became a household name in rap with the millennial house party jam “Type of Way," which reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. He is survived by four sons.
