BuffsBeat's Josh Tolle put the pressure on Colorado football S Shilo Sanders to address his shoulder injury and bankruptcy case -- one that could be a ploy to get out of a $11.89 million payment to former Focus Academies security guard John Darjean -- at Big 12 media days.

"Will he address either one of these issues, or is it 'business as usual' for Sanders? BuffsBeat broke the news of Shilo's surgery after he was wearing a brace during CU's Spring Game in late April," Tolle prefaced before saying, "While he has kept up appearances to make it seem like he's out there on the practice field, the reality is he hasn't taken any contact or participated in drills."

Sanders called out BuffsBeat's initial report, but it's looking like they were right about Shilo's shoulder; which has the capacity to keep him out of action until November and seriously compromise his NFL prospects.

Shilo Sanders' leadership will be missed on Colorado football defense

It's a shame Sanders is set to miss so much time. First-year Buffs defensive coordinator Robert Livingston was a secondary specialist with the Cincinnati Bengals for nearly a decade and several players made names (and many millions of dollars) for themselves in Cincy.

Shilo's leadership isn't replaceable on this Buffs roster, and without him, Colorado could be down a top performer for most of, if not the entire, 2024 season.

Coach Prime's middle son has an NFL draft stock to keep afloat. Deion's demands of his sons and Travis Hunter got Shilo extra criticism for having his name included in a conversation about dictating his next destination in the pros, and now, not having the Darjean case handled could do even more damage to his off-field reputation.

Damage control is badly needed for the CU safety, but he doesn't have much time to do it with the season swiftly approaching.
