Coach Prime was never going to set world on fire in offseason again with Colorado football
Coach Prime having the same cultural impact on college football during the 2023-24 Colorado football recruiting cycle that he had in 2022-23 was never going to happen, says BuffsBeat's Jason Jones -- who believes that it hits all the same regardless.
"The offseason for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes has a very different feel compared to last year," Jones prefaced before saying, "There was not going to be a repeat of Coach Prime setting the college football world on fire. However, what has happened in a short amount of time speaks volumes. It hasn't been the same heat as his introductory press conference, along with the follow-up that featured the famous “I’m bringing my luggage and its Louis” line, which people would talked about for the eight months afterwards, but it all hits the same."
Having laid the foundation of a program in 2022 with the additions of his son Shedeur Sanders at quarterback, giving him several high-octane weapons like Xavier Weaver, Jimmy Horn Jr., and Travis Hunter, and then loading up the secondary, his own area of expertise, with both Hunter and his other star son, Shilo. The trenches weren't filled in enough, particularly the offensive line, and that's been Deion Sanders' mission this offseason.
Jordan Seaton has set Colorado football world on fire this offseason
Around Buffs circles, this offseason was set on fire by Coach Prime when Colorado landed Jordan Seaton; this despite Tennessee offering NIL millions and Maryland, which is near his native Washington D.C., making a late push.
Seaton comes with a highly-rated transfer group and inspires hope for a unit that held the offense back when faced against an even adequate pass rush. While the pomp and pageantry of "Prime Time" wasn't as present for year two, since we've already seen Coach Prime talk his talk and walk his walk, in many ways his second offseason inspires even more hope for a winning season soon.
