Deion Sanders and his Colorado football coaching staff reportedly have favorites, dubbed the "A Team" by one or several of recruiting expert Mike Farrell's sources.

Said in another way: Coach Prime and his Buffs confidants are operating like any program in the country.

Farrell acknowledged that the recent accusations from AthlonSports toward Sanders' program could be from a reporter with "some weird axe to grind," but shared that Coach Prime does show favoritism towards the team's top guys.

"I’ve heard from so many people over the last year about massive favoritism at Colorado for not only Deion’s sons and Travis Hunter but for the 'A Team' or essentially the coaching favorites," Farrell wrote. "These are the best players on the team and many sources have told me they can do as they please."

No one assumed otherwise. What people would assume is that a collegiate locker room at a prestigious school like the University of Colorado Boulder wouldn't have violence promoted by the head coach and guns being brandished in a city with heavy gun control.

Not even Farrell, notoriously a critic of all things Coach Prime, believes it's true, though. And AthlonSports' Steve Corder was dissected by Farrell because of it.

Deion Sanders and Colorado football doing great narrative control

The AthlonSports locker room story really isn't escaping the sect of sports fans who are chronically online. Thus far, Deion and CU football have done an exquisite job of narrative control to not let it get out.

The local beat has condemned it. Follow-up stories haven't been popping up. Much of what was said needs to be verified more than three to four times because even though it had been floating out there for months in the rumor ether, the potential legal ramifications are severe.

If any of it is true, AthlonSports has not done a good job of convincing the public. Coach Prime and Co. are running up the scoreboard on this narrative battle.
