Colorado football head coaching foil Dan Lanning commented on his controversial pregame speech before his Oregon ducks destroyed the Buffs 42-6 during The Ryen Russillo Podcast.

“At that point, I think I had coached 17 games as a head coach,” Lanning said (h/t Ducks Wire). “I’d never had a crew ask ‘Hey, can we be in the locker room?’ And I’ll be honest, I thought that there was a lot that would be trimmed out —  because you leave the locker room and go straight to the field — and obviously, that didn’t happen. So if you’re asking me ‘Was that gonna play out like it played out?’ It didn’t play out like I thought it would play out. I thought there were some really cool things in there about us talking about connection with our team, and the roots of a tree and what that looks like, but I guess that’s not as good for TV.”

Ducks Wire's Zachary Neel called the comments good television, understanding fully well why his clips were edited as they were.

"It’s not hard to see why the TV production crew chose to use the sound bites from Lanning that they did," Neel wrote. "With all of the hype that Coach Prime had built around the Colorado program in the first three weeks of the season, having an opposing coach passionately declare that “the Cinderella story is over” certainly makes for good television."

Dan Lanning seems to hold resentment toward Coach Prime's media spotlight with Colorado football

Lanning talking once more about the Colorado game points in the direction of resentment toward Coach Prime for the media spotlight he generates. Given his success with Oregon thus far, it's certainly understandable; since his Ducks don't garner the same level of interest despite being a top 10 NY6 bowl winner.

With more high profile programs with richer legacies in the Big Ten, Oregon may finally get an increased spotlight.

It just won't shine a fraction of Deion Sanders' will.
