Phil Loadholt's initial Colorado football OL group won't include OG journeyman Jack Wilty in 2024. As BuffsBeat's Jeff Hauser points out, Wilty was a Week 1 starter who didn't give up a sack whenever he saw the field.

"Jack Wilty made the decision to enter the transfer portal on Monday afternoon," Hauser prefaced before saying, "He played in 11 games (one start vs. TCU) for Colorado last year and didn't allow a sack in 146 pass attempts. The 6-foot-4, 310-pounder came to Boulder as part of Coach Prime's initial surge and re-enters the portal as a grad transfer."

Wilty didn't thank Coach Prime or his coaching staff while announcing his next career move; this after stops at Northern Illinois and Iowa Central Community College prior to being part of the first transfer haul of the "Prime Time" era.

"After many talks with my family and much consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal as a grad transfer with 2 years of eligibility remaining!" Wilty wrote on X.

Despite Jack Wilty transfer, Phil Loadholt still enjoying successful first Colorado football recruiting cycle

As Denver Sports' Jake Shapiro wrote, Loadholt is nailing the talent acquisition portion of his Buffs offensive line coach gig in his first recruiting cycle.

"No offensive line in the country was worse than the Colorado Buffaloes this past year, but Deion Sanders has done a lot of work early in the offseason to correct the issue heading into 2024," Shapiro wrote.

"This week Sanders announced former NFL lineman Phil Loadholt will lead the unit, and the man in charge of the big boys has already nailed the talent acquisition portion of his gig. On Saturday alone, four starting offensive linemen from other FBS programs committed from the transfer portal to join Coach Prime in Boulder."

Losing Wilty is not ideal for CU's depth, but regardless, Loadholt has done a good job this offseason.
