Colorado football QB Shedeur Sanders was deliberate in his decision not to declare for the 2024 NFL draft and instead return to the Buffs for one last ride under his father, head coach Deion Sanders, and alongside his older brother, safety Shilo Sanders.

As he told Heavy Sports' Jonathan Adams, Shedeur wrote down the pros and cons about leaving, and he found there were more cons than pros as it pertains to leaving Boulder behind for the pros just yet.

“Write down the pros and write down the cons. What’s the cons of me coming back?” Sanders told Heavy Sports in an exclusive July 10, 2024, interview during Big 12 Football Media Days. “You got another year of college. I would say, you have another year to grow. You have more time to grow.

“You don’t want to go there too early [when] you’re not ready. I got things I got to improve on before I’d even be ready to think about going there.”

Colorado football QB Shedeur Sanders not a consensus first-round draft pick in 2025

Shedeur was right to come back. Though he and his father feel he was one of the top QB prospects in 2024 had he declared, NFL Draft on SI's Cory Kinnan claimed that Shedeur isn't a guaranteed first-round pick in 2025 yet.

"Sanders has some areas he must improve on from his pre-snap process, to his ability to avoid sacks and navigate muddy pockets better," Kinnan prefaced before saying, "However, there is no doubting his talent. He, however, is not a lock to make the first round with one more year to make a newer name for himself."

Good thing Shedeur is coming back to silence any remaining doubt. Because evidently, there's still a good bit of doubt he needs to put behind him.
