Deion Sanders finally broke his silence on Cormani McClain's transfer from the Colorado football program on April 16; something that many saw as a formality after the constant jawing from the head coach to the former 5-star corner.

While speaking to the DNVR Buffs Live crew, Sanders explained that he didn't feel the University of Colorado was the proper school to keep McClain accountable and develop him beyond the football field.

"I pray to god that he goes to a program that challenges him, as well as holds him accountable and develops him as a young man," Sanders prefaced before saying, "Unfortunately, we weren't the program that could accomplish that."

One of Sanders' first viral moments of the 2023 season was when he called out McClain ahead of the USC game when asked by a reporter why the former Lakeland (Florida) star hadn't seen the field through the first month of the season.

"Study and prepare," Sanders told reporters when asked what McClain can improve on to see the field (h/t Bleacher Report). "Be on time for meetings, show up to meetings. Understand the scheme. I check film time from each player so I can see who's preparing, so if I don't see that, you would be a fool to put somebody out there who's not prepared. That goes for all our players."

USF a likely landing spot for Cormani McClain after Colorado football transfer

The prevailing transfer destination for McClain after he was dismissed from CU is USF; one of Sanders' choices upon leaving Jackson State before he decided to continue his coaching career at Colorado.

USF has been losing recruits to Power Five programs due to NIL restraints but can be an attractive bounce-back option for McClain as he looks to rebuild his value.

Don't be shocked to see a one or two-year stint for McClain in Tampa before finding a new home elsewhere.
