Deion Sanders changed life of Colorado football DL on Warren Sapp's radar early in his career

Deion "Prime Time" Sanders is known for many things, but he has changed the life of this one player in particular.

Deion Sanders has made an effort to better the lives of many, but for one in particular, he's done more than what was probably asked for. The transfer out of Arizona State University, defensive lineman BJ Green, already had a prior connection with Prime Time during his time with Colorado football.

“(BJ) Green has a special tie to Coach Prime from his youth,” BuffsBeat’s Josh Tolle prefaced before saying, “He was his first head coach in Atlanta and turned him away from being a running back to play defense.”

You may be reading that and saying "Sanders made him play another position, how did he help?"

Well, if you have kept up with Green's career up to this point, he was a starter at ASU, playing on the DL. He accumulated 39 tackles, 21 SOLOs, and 18 assists across 11 games during the 2023 season. Green has been doing fairly well considering the position change influenced by Prime Time way back then.

Sanders, Green, and Warren Sapp all have ties ... but how?

What's the connection between Deion Sanders, B.J. Green, and Warren Sapp?

Sapp was added to Sanders' coaching staff this past April. This would have been done a lot sooner, but the university had other plans.

"Sanders said Sapp would be joining the staff late last year, but the school said in January that no move had been made," said NBC Sports' Josh Alper. "That changed on Monday as a video posted by Sanders’ son showed Sapp introducing himself to the team."

Fortunately, all of that has passed, and the two guys are now on the same staff with one goal in mind: improving Colorado's record from last season. It's an idea that's so possible to happen when you have players like Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter on offense.

As far as Green is concerned, he is someone who was on Coach Sapp's radar throughout the entire transfer portal process. Luckily, the Atlanta, Georgia, native decided to play underneath one of the game's most elite cornerbacks.

The three are all at the same university, working towards bigger dreams and aspirations.

All there's left to do is hit the field!
