Deion Sanders' Colorado football program is 4-1 for the first time since the 2020 season after a dominant 48-21 victory over UCF at the Bounce House. Coach Prime couldn't help but be emotional after his Buffs had perhaps their greatest showing since he took over as head coach in December 2022.

“I can’t even tell you how emotional I am about these young men," Sanders said after the final whistle (h/t The Coloradoan's Scott Procter). “We played a tremendous team and I’m proud of what transpired today.”

Colorado was a two-score underdog entering Week 5 but looked dominant against a Knights squad many pegged as a potential Big 12 contender. Shedeur Sanders threw 28 completions, three for touchdowns, to just seven incompletions; one an interception. Travis Hunter had nine catches for 89 yards and one of those TD tosses. Hunter also had an interception in the second half on a play he covered three different guys on.

Most importantly, though, the RB room had 128 yards. That makes CU a legitimately dangerous team if this is a trend and not a blip on the radar. The Buffs had 91 rushing yards against Baylor during their 38-31 OT win in Week 4.

Colorado football passes UCF test with flying colors

Colorado was projected to fall off and have a similar finish to last year's 4-8 run. Beating UCF may prove that the Buffs have the talent to make a legitimate run in the Big 12, though.

Oklahoma State is a disappointing two-loss team, Kansas State looked vulnerable against BYU, Arizona looked vulnerable against K-State themselves, and Utah looks like CU's only uphill climb the rest of the season.

The UCF win may singlehandedly change the perception of Coach Prime's Buffs for the rest of the season. A disappointing loss can turn the tide again, but it's hard to picture this offense taking any steps back with how well Shedeur and Hunter look heading into the bye week.
