Deion Sanders once again denies report he forced Shedeur's rap career on Colorado football locker room
Deion Sanders shared a hopeful message on X about what's ahead for his Colorado football locker room, but once again denied the report that he forced his players to attend the Prime Weekend Lil Wayne concert to support Shedeur's rapping -- and that such an action caused an exodus from the program in the May transfer portal window.
"This will be a memorable week for a multitude of reasons," Sanders said with an accompanying photo of his son, Deion Sanders Jr. "Even the Lies can’t stop what GOD is doing with this Program, with our Beautiful city, concerning our Wonderful Campus, these hard working young Men & the campers that’s coming this week! I absolutely LOVE it."
AthlonSports' Steve Corder started the media firestorm by reporting from his team source that Deion making the Lil Wayne concert mandatory was the "final straw" for several CU players.
"The Wayne concert was the final straw for a few players who hit the transfer portal," a source told Corder. "When Coach Prime told us we all had to be there to support Shedeur as a rapper, they were not happy at all. To be honest, it was nothing but a huge distraction and Daddy Ball was being played."
Most believe Deion Sanders' Colorado football locker room-Lil Wayne rumor
As Coach Prime continues to deny AthlonSports' report, most analysts err on the side of the rumor being true; with some believing the truth lies closer to the middle.
No coach will ever achieve full narrative control of his program, even if someone like Deion is trying to by filming everything that's done behind the scenes. As an outspoken and charismatic leader, Sanders is prone to more vicious rumors and accusations, though, making this Colorado situation uncharted in many ways.
The Lil Wayne concert being mandatory is the truth according to those who have spoken with team personnel. Whether or not that has to do with Shedeur rapping for a few minutes is unclear and probably not true. Players leaving because of it? Now that's nearly impossible to directly prove.
