Coach Prime's Colorado football program lost its associate director of player personnel, former Buffs head coach Karl Dorrell's son, Chandler Dorrell, on March 11 -- and BuffsBeat's Jeff Hauser believes it's because Chandler will be heading back to the NFL.

"Dorrell joined CU after being with the Miami Dolphins where he spent a season as an assistant," Hauser prefaced before saying, "Prior to that, he held a similar position with the New York Jets in 2018. It's likely he'll make his way back to the pro ranks in some capacity in the future. Outside of the ties from his father, Dorrell had Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Cris Carter as a position coach at Aquinas High School (Fort Lauderdale, Fla), where he was teammates with the Bosa brothers (Joey and Nick)."

Dorrell thanked Coach Prime and Co. for allowing him to be a part of a historic first season of the Prime era in Boulder.

"I am thankful to have been able to serve this University for the past 4 years. I've come to work every day with the goal of giving everything to this program and university, and it's given me so much in return," Dorrell wrote. "Thank you to Coach Prime and his staff for allowing me the opportunity to showcase my value through my work. And thank you to all the coaches, support staff, student-athletes I've crossed paths with in my time here at CU. The friendships and relationships I've formed in Boulder will last a lifetime!"

Ex-Colorado football staffer Chandler Dorrell can land at Alabama or Michigan

Essentially Sports' Soheli Tarafdar believes Alabama and Michigan can be potential landing spots for Dorrell following his Colorado exit.

"Last month, things did not seem to be going smoothly in the recruiting arena for the Alabama Crimson Tide," Tarafdar prefaced before saying, "The athletics director, Greg Byrne, expressed his concerns about the trend of college coaches leaving for the NFL. In that case, Dorrell can make his way to joining the Crimson Tide. The other prospect that holds a high chance is that of the Michigan Wolverines. The new HC, Sherrone Moore, is looking for a replacement for Mike Hart, and Dorrel seems to be an ideal candidate."

Wherever he lands, one thing is for sure: Chandler's time at CU will be remembered more fondly than his father's.
