Former NBA Slam Dunk Champion Nate Robinson opened up about Deion Sanders, the head coach of his son, Nahmier, a Colorado football CB who is entering his second season in Boulder after taking a redshirt in year one with just one appearance, during an interview with FOX News Digital.

From the sounds of it, Robinson couldn't be happier for his son attending the University of Colorado to be a Buff.

"It's been a blessing," Robinson said of his son playing for Coach Prime. "He's learning a lot, he's becoming a student of the game, which I wanted for him – to learn from the best and be coached by the best, and my favorite player ever to ever put on some cleats. He's my all-time favorite. I wore No. 2 because of him. I always wanted to go to Florida State, but I ended up going to [Washington].

"Prime was the guy, bro. He was the guy I wanted to be like when I was playing football. That's who I imagined I was playing like."

Robinson didn't sound willing to let Robinson go anywhere else, jokingly (we think) claiming that he was ready to sign Nahmier's NLI himself.

"I would have signed that paper for my son," Nate prefaced before saying, "I'm like, ‘Nah, you’re going here, bro.'"

Nate Robinson excited for his son, Nahmier, to truly start his Colorado football career

Having not logged a single stat in 2023, Nahmier is likely to see more time with the departure of Kyndrich Breedlove ahead of him on the depth chart. His father shared his excitement to see him get more reps in 2024.

"I'm excited for my son to start his career…" Robinson said. "Got a year under his belt, hopefully has an opportunity to play this year, and he'll get a chance to showcase what he can do."

Nate Robinson isn't the only celebrity father of a Buffs recruit. WWE legend Bill Goldberg, father of PWO commit Gage Goldberg, is another well-known parent who sent his son to play under the legendary Sanders.
