Inside Nebraska's Tim Verghese sees Indiana's chances of landing Deion Sanders' top 2025 quarterback target, USC commit Julian Lewis, as being better than Coach Prime's Colorado football program's.

"I’ll say this much, I think Indiana has a better shot at flipping Julian Lewis than Colorado does," Verghese said.

As On3's Steve Wiltfong notes, IU QB coach Tino Sunseri has a stronger relationship with Lewis than just about anyone else in Boulder, Los Angeles, Athens, or otherwise.

"Carrollton (Ga.) High five-star QB Julian Lewis will take an official visit to Indiana the weekend of May 31 and there isn't a coach in the country he's known longer than Hoosiers QB coach Tino Sunseri," Wiltfong noted.

Colorado football QB depth after Shedeur Sanders leaves worries analyst

Once Shedeur Sanders leaves, the Buffs QB room will be largely unproven. While Lewis will be as a freshman in 2025 as well, he comes with a much higher pedigree than those on the depth chart already.

FOX Sports' RJ Young worries about the future for CU under center despite there being a few options who are expected to be around next season.

"The plan is simply to 'wait and see,'" Young prefaced before saying, "But 'wait and see' ended with a 4-8 record last season, partly because 'wait and see' hasn't built depth at important positions, notably QB, offensive line and defensive line.

"So, what happens after Shedeur heads to the NFL in 2025?"

The answer to that question appears to either be Lewis or a transfer portal quarterback since Sanders has talked about Staub starting elsewhere and there's yet to be any strong statements about improvements from Wade or Walter Taylor; the latter of whom looked overmatched at the Black and Gold spring game on April 27.

Plenty can change between now and 2025, but the QB situation is a major question mark as things stand.
