Deion Sanders knows perfectly how and when to extinguish a raging fire. Take the Colorado fight song controversy, for instance. Just when the criticism started hitting the fever pitch, Sanders came in with his placating words, calming the accusing folks down.

"This is not true. Nobody ever asked the band to refrain from playing the fight song. After a touchdown, the band plays 'Glory, Glory, Colorado' and after a point after touchdown, the band plays 'Fight CU' as has been standard practice for years," the statement released by a Colorado spokesperson Curtis Snyder stated.

Putting things in perspective, the spokesperson further explained, "When Shedeur Sanders scores, the band will wait a moment for a small snippet of Shedeur’s song to play before immediately kicking into 'Glory, Glory, Colorado'."

The clash against North Dakota State went exactly how Snyder explained: first a snippet of "Perfect Timing" played, followed by the CU fight song, as confirmed by On3 Sports.

Even Joel Klatt confirmed the news, saying, "This is false... That is all," on X.

Does that answer the unaddressed questions about Deion Sanders' relationship with CU traditions?

Well, this still doesn't completely douse down the rumor ignited by Jake Shapiro of Denver Sports in his initial report claiming Deion Sanders is actively forcing the band to not play the signature CU TD songs altogether.

The reason we all know it: broken hearts from broken promises. A promise that Deion made in the beginning of the season of giving the Buffs fans the wins they deserve this season with their "revamped" roster.

The same roster that failed to protect Shedeur in their brutal loss against Nebraska.

The pressure to win against CSU will be high, and so will be the stakes. If that game goes down, the same daunting downward spiral of some initial wins -- this time around it'd be just one win against an FCS squad -- followed by back-to-back heartbreaking losses from the previous season, would follow.

Time to pull off another heart-winning masterstroke, Coach Prime.
