Narrative switches on Deion Sanders' involvement with Shedeur Sanders' NFL draft process
One NFC executive told ESPN's Jordan Reid that Deion Sanders is involved in his son Colorado football QB Shedeur Sanders' NFL draft process -- and a scout believes that the franchise that lands the "Grown QB" is getting the rest of the Sanders family as well.
"Deion has been the kid's coach all of his life. Everyone knows that he's running that show and that's not going to change moving forward," one NFC executive told Reid.
"You're not only drafting Shedeur, you're drafting the family as well, and there will be varying opinions about that," an NFC scout added.
Of course, Coach Prime and Shedeur were claiming the opposite at Big 12 Media Days. There seems to have been some selective memory from the Sanders father-son duo, though, because Deion wrote off cold-weather teams and did name several NFL teams by name as having his blessing.
That might not have meant those were the only franchises Coach Prime would want for his kids, but it appears like they are above the rest in his eyes at the very least, especially in conjunction with the cold weather comments.
Deion Sanders trying to Streisand effect 'going to be an Eli' comments about Shedeur, Shilo and Travis Hunter
Coach Prime said on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast that Shedeur, Shilo, and Travis Hunter were "going to be an Eli" if they were drafted to certain cities.
"All this is subjective because I know where I kind of want them to go," Sanders said (58:55 mark) (h/t Bleacher Report). "And let's not forget Shilo (Sanders). But I know where I want them to go. There's certain cities where it ain't going to happen. ...It's going to be an Eli [Manning]."
If Deion's stance has changed, that's cool. Perhaps he realized Shedeur, Shilo, and Hunter deserve to lift any franchise's spirits at the right price and with the right coaching personnel. Any team could overhaul its coaching staff at the suggestion of a notable influence like Coach Prime. He's got good ideas and has a proven record of success at the high school level and in the SWAC with Jackson State.
But he definitely appeared to be speaking certain teams up and steering his kids away from regions that differ from their native Texas.
