Deion Sanders' future with the Colorado football program was deemed almost entirely dependent on how his Buffs perform during the 2024 season. FanSided's Michael Hanich dialed up the drama and said Sanders' seat could become ablaze in Boulder if he can't get his team in the win column more often that not this Fall.

"If Sanders fails to deliver this upcoming season for the Buffaloes, it might be harder to convince the administration and donors that he is the right coach for the job," Hanich prefaced before saying, "The program’s hype and social media circus are worth the risk, but if Sanders fails, the damages will be just as high as the rewards reaped so far in the Sanders era."

That's not all that believable, all things considered, though. Sanders recently got paid a substantial bonus for bringing exposure to the Buffs brand during the 2023 season.Sande

“Sanders to earn an Employee Recognition Bonus for the national recognition he has brought to the University and Athletics Department this season,” states the pay form signed by CU officials in early December (h/t USA Today).

Sounds like CU is satisfied with less than stellar success on the field.

Deion Sanders promises to be with Colorado football for five to 10 years

For what it's worth, Sanders has promised to stick in Colorado for the next five to 10 years as his sons move on to professional football. Repeatedly, he's said he won't follow his sons to the NFL because he is a father, not a baby daddy.

"Most people ask me, 'What you gonna do when they're out, you're going to the pros together?' I said, 'A real father leads his sons, he doesn't follow them,'" Sanders said on the All the Smoke podcast (h/t Bleacher Report). "So I'm good, I'll be here. I ain't going nowhere, I'm straight, I love Boulder, Colorado, and I cannot wait till they go into the NFL and do their thing."

Sanders has it too good to consider leaving. Don't expect much smoke regarding a departure with any final tally of four wins or more in 2024.
