The Colorado football centric Prime To Colorado podcast claimed that it was "only up from here" for cornerback Cormani McClain, who perhaps went through the most trying 2023 season from a player-coach standpoint with Deion Sanders.

"I think Cormani McClain is gonna bе a dog," Prime to Colorado's host proclaimed (h/t Essentially Sports). "Wе alrеady saw in thе workout vidеo that hе put on wеight. Cormani McClain adding that wеight, adding that quicknеss, just undеrstanding thе collеgе gamе and what it takеs to bе succеssful. Cormani McClain is about to bе that guy bеcausе wе all know hе has talеnt. Wе’vе sееn what hе did in multiplе gamеs and еspеcially thе USC gamе. So and it is only up from hеrе.”

McClain finished the 2023 season with 13 tackles and two pass deflections in five appearances. Those five appearances happened only after he proved to Coach Prime that he was willing to meet CU's new standards to find the field.

Cormani McClain not transferring from Colorado football deemed impressive

Mike Farrell of the Mike Farrell Sports brand deemed it impressive that McClain decided not to transfer after the season he went through in Boulder.

"It is quite impressive that Cormani McClain hasn’t hit the portal," Farrell prefaced before saying, "After the Deion call out and with him hailing all the way from Florida I thought he was for sure a flight risk."

Coach Prime called McClain out for not being on time for meetings in September; which is unexcused, unlike his two sons taking part in Paris Fashion Week and missing the first Buffs team meeting of the 2024 calendar year.

"Study. Prepare. Study. Prepare. Be on time for meetings," Coach Prime prefaced before saying, "Show up to the darn meetings. Understand what we're doing as a scheme. Want to play this game. Desire to play this game. Desire to be the best in this game, at practice, in the film room. Uh, and on your own free time. You do know that I check film time for each player... I need film time from the whole staff, so I can see who's been preparing and that's not just about Cormani, that's about a multitude of them. So if I don't see that, you would be a fool to put somebody out there unprepared. Can't do it. Won't do it. Can't do it. I'm old school, I'm sorry."

McClain is now seemingly past that and that could be great news for Colorado football fans -- and bad news for everyone else.
