A potential Colorado football replacement for Shedeur Sanders under center for the Buffs, Carrollton's Julian Lewis, is visiting Boulder, Auburn, and Georgia in late January/early February per On3's Chad Simmons.

Lewis committed to USC in August 2023 and re-classified from 2026 to the 2025 class on January 16. As ESPN's Pete Thamel points out, Lewis could jump Bryce Underwood, who chose LSU over CU, when the next quarterback rankings for the 2025 class are released.

"It's expected that he'll be ranked No. 1 in the class of 2025 in ESPN's next rankings when they come out on Jan. 29," Thamel wrote. "In ESPN's August rankings of high school prospects regardless of class, Lewis ranked ahead of the current top player in the class of 2025, quarterback Bryce Underwood, who recently committed to LSU."

Fellow Georgia high school star Antwann Hill (Houston County) de-committed from the Buffs, though he reiterated that Colorado was still an option.

"Colorado is still a top priority for me," Hill told ESPN. "I really just want to take the process slower and make sure I'm making the right decision for me and my family at the end of the day. I'm going to get back out there on the market and make the right decision."

Colorado football target Julian Lewis compared to Trevor Lawrence

Carrollton head coach Joey King compared Lewis to Heisman finalist and former No. 1 overall NFL draft pick Trevor Lawrence.

"I've had the privilege of coaching Trevor Lawrence," King prefaced before saying, "He's in the same category as Trevor. The skill set and arm talent he has are definitely advanced for his age."

Lewis has lofty expectations to live up to, and it's on Coach Prime to prove to him that Colorado will have the infrastructure to enable him to reach those heights.
