In the debate for college football's best player, it could be argued that the answer should be a quarterback or a wide receiver. However, in Travis Hunter's case, he plays both sides of the ball — not just one. This skill makes him so special and perhaps feared by many teams that cross his path. His talent for receiving touchdowns and deflecting them is displayed at such as high-level.

Rece Davis comes out and states that he believes that Hunter is the "best player in the country." He has a great case for it, too — it'd be pretty hard to go against it.

"I think they have the best player in college football in Travis Hunter," Davis said (h/t Athlon Sports). "You might wibble, and I probably would, that Will Johnson may be above Travis Hunter as a pure corner. Maybe you find a receiver that, as a pure receiver, you like better, but as a complete football player... Travis Hunter is the best player in the country."

To direct all of the naysayers about Davis' stance, he does point out that there are probably better pure corners as well as receivers than Hunter but he has the total package. Coach Prime has the luxury of playing him on one side or the other, this allows him to strategize according to the dynamics of a game.

Hunter is forging his path of what it means to be a "two-way" player.

2024 season may be it for Travis Hunter with Colorado football

Hunter is projected to enter the 2025 NFL Draft and was recently projected to end up down South, playing for the Tennessee Titans. Whether or not he will continue his two-way playstyle will be determined but there's still a whole season of Colorado football left to be played.

A 4-8 2023 Buffs record is looking to be improved upon and Deion Sanders, Shedeur Sanders, and the rest of the team are in it to win it. The offseason has been busy picking up transfers, which is setting them up to be in the best shape possible for any opponent they face.

There's so much to say about Hunter's future but actions speak louder than words so let's have his game do the talking.

Not just for Davis but college football fans altogether.
