FSU is reportedly working to get into the Big Ten by matching the B1G's AAU accreditation requirements, but the Big 12 is reportedly the only option for Clemson due to the SEC not wanting to add a second school in South Carolina.
"As we've had to educate so many over the years that the B1G will only take AAU accredited schools, FSU and their BOR are working hard to get that," longtime college football radio host Greg Swaim prefaced before saying, "If they can get accredited in the next two years they will likely wind up in the B10, but #Clemson has no chance of AAU, and the #SEC won't add another school in South Carolina."
FSU and Clemson won't be making these movements imminently, however. No school will submit the paperwork necessary by August 15 to get a move done until at least 2026 as we learned at ACC Media Days.
NC State likely to get Big 12 invite, GA Tech possible for Big Ten or SEC
Elsewhere in realignment during ACC Media Days, Swaim revealed NC State is likely to get a Big 12 offer -- but will need to "sweat it out" -- while GA Tech has a chance to get interest from every Power 3 conference.
"One ACC team that will get neither an SEC nor B1G offer, that will have to sweat it out for a Big 12 offer is NC State, but they should get one," Swaim wrote.
"GeorgiaTech will very likely get a P3 invite, as their academics are outstanding, and of course being in Atlanta definitely helps."
Clemson, FSU, Louisville, VA Tech, Miami, and NC State or GA Tech were all predicted to join Big 12 by August 15 at one point, but evidently, FSU and GA Tech aren't guarantees while NC State and Clemson may have no other choice.
