Former Texas A&M transfer DL Walter Nolen was deemed by The Coloradoan's Scott Procter a potential home run addition for the Colorado football program after hitting the transfer portal on December 4.

"Notable: The 6-foot-4, 285-pound DL is college football's No. 1 transfer portal player and would be a home-run commit for the Buffs," Procter wrote. "Nolen had 29 tackles and a sack for the Aggies as a true freshman and kicked things up as a sophomore, recording 37 tackles (8.5 for a loss) and four sacks in 2023. The Texas A&M transfer just took a visit to Oregon and is headed to Ole Miss next, but don't count out Sanders and the Buffs after the recruiting week they just had."

Reeling in Nolen would give Colorado two of the top players from the 2022 recruiting class in Nolen and two-way star Travis Hunter.

Colorado football target Walter Nolen only spoken of in superlatives

When it comes to Nolen, only the most triumphant celebratory adjectives find their way into the mix.

While talking about the possibility of Ole Miss landing the former Olive Branch (Mississippi) product, who transferred in his junior year of high school to Powell in Tennessee, leading them too on a championship run, Ole Hotty Toddy's Jordan Merritt said it'd be a "masterstroke" if Lane Kiffin could reel in Nolen's commitment.

"Lane Kiffin and the team will be working hard on the visit," Merritt prefaced before saying, "Showing Nolen how wanted he is in Oxford and the role he will have on the 2024 Rebels roster. The defensive players Ole Miss have already signed from the transfer portal show the ambition the team have for the 2024 season. If they can sell that to Nolen, it would be a masterstroke from Kiffin."

Ole Miss has the crystal ball prediction for Nolen right now, but ask Tennessee about believing the deal was sealed with Jordan Seaton and not taking Colorado seriously as a threat.
