Thee Pregame Show host Uncle Neely, one of Deion Sanders' direct media lines, revealed how Colorado football GA Warren Sapp is adhering to the Buffs' team guidelines for players and coaches.

He's keeping his phone away from him, and he's being present with the locker room.

“I had lunch with Warren Sapp, a Hall of Famer today, and he has two phones and both of them were in the container and he was talking to players at the table," Neely said (h/t Essentially Sports). "It’s probably now just about a full week that this policy has been in place.”

Sapp is presumably on a short leash at CU considering his past transgressions that had Violence Free Colorado petitioning to prevent his hiring. Deion Sanders got his way, but one has to imagine it was a close call. In the months Sapp was finishing up his degree at Texas Seminary Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Sports Management that made him eligible to be a GA, there seemed to be mixed messages on whether or not he'd be hired.

If Coach Prime is willing to stick it out over the long haul and doesn't seek retirement after Shilo and Shedeur Sanders move on to the NFL, he can make Colorado a place that's not quite Last Chance U, but gives a path to redemption for talented people with some baggage.

Sapp is the first former friend of Sanders who got the call and has the chance to parlay his experience with the Buffs into an NFL job; or at least a job on someone's coaching staff. Maybe even Colorado's. If he can work out, plenty of others will seek a similar opportunity.

At the very least, it seems Sapp is motivated to make good on Sanders' massive favor to have him hired.
