USF writer glad Shedeur Sanders is at Colorado football and not starting over Byrum Brown

Green Gold and Bold's Joe Henderson, like many in the USF community, love having Byrum Brown as the Bulls' QB1. Had Deion Sanders chosen Tampa over the Colorado football program, Shedeur Sanders would've been instead, but reality didn't transpire that way -- and Henderson is happy we're in the present timeline

"Had Sanders come to USF, his son obviously would have been the quarterback and we never would have known how good Byrum Brown can be," Henderson wrote.

In truth, Henderson is more turned off by the recent report from AthlonSports' Steve Corder detailing rampant fighting in the locker room, and worse, -- which has yet to be corroborated elsewhere yet but has details similar to what's being spoken about in media circles -- than he is Shedeur himself. And of course, the important caveat with Corder's story is that it came from players who left the program. Not to mention: the Well Off Media cameras weren't on, and as far as we know, no one else's were either, so we'll only ever get differing stories from everyone involved.

But it cannot be understated just how beloved Brown is at USF. Bulls defensive coordinator Todd Orlando called him a uniter and an elite player.

"The greatest effect he can have on us as a ball club is not only his play at an elite level, but he's just an incredible human being, and he can bring people together," Orlando said (h/t FOX 13 Tampa Bay).

USF still would've been better off with 'Prime Effect' Colorado football is experiencing

Even with the wild rumors, the losing record, the ill-intentioned comments from Deion, Shedeur, and Shilo, the University of Colorado Boulder is better off (and richer) for having hosted the "Prime Effect" than otherwise. That would've been the case with USF too, even if the headaches turn so many off.

Deion in his home state, even at the Group of 5 level, would've made serious waves on the recruiting. It's fair to assume IMG Academy's Jordan Seaton would've stayed in-state. Ditto for Cormani McClain, whose timeline may have been completely different in his home state. Add in a likely similar transfer class in talent and NIL cost and you likely would've had what CU has now.

From the outside looking in at this moment, it doesn't seem that what Boulder has right now is enviable. Too much drama, and not enough results just yet. Valid points. But it is.

Because even a three-game winning streak makes your school the biggest story in sports when Deion is in charge.
