WWE legend Goldberg's son sends strong message on Coach Prime, Colorado football commitment
WWE, although to be most truthful, WCW legend Bill Goldberg's son, Gage Goldberg, committed to Coach Prime's Colorado football program on January 14, and while talking to BuffsBeat, the Champion, Texas product explained what drew him to Boulder.
In short, Coach Prime and the coaching staff he's built; though it is missing pieces at the moment including, most notably, a defensive coordinator.
"The main draw was that Colorado has an amazing coaching staff and obviously a great head coach that will help me excel in every way to become a better football player, and eventually to get me to the next level," Goldberg told BuffsBeat.
Gage also revealed what advice his WWE Hall of Fame father gave him as his recruiting process played out.
"My dad's advice was go to the program that stands out to you the most and the one you know that you will love. I already know at this moment that I will love Colorado and it will also be great to be learning from one of my dad’s best friends ever."
Notably, Colorado beat out Alabama for Goldberg, though Nick Saban's retirement likely had a major part to do with it. Goldberg had a PWO offer from Saban, but with Kalen DeBoer taking over in Tuscaloosa, Colorado was able to swoop in on his recruitment.
Expect to see Bill Goldberg involved with Colorado football in some capacity this season
Bill Goldberg is a proud Georgia Bulldog, but it wouldn't be a shock to see the family affair Coach Prime's program is -- which features his two sons, Shedeur and Shilo, in starring roles and added the Wade brothers and the Wester brothers this offseason -- have the ex-NFLer involved with his son's team in some form.
We already saw The Rock involved with Coach Prime's Buffs, why wouldn't we see the man they call Goldberg give CU extra motivation? Especially considering many on the team likely grew up watching their new teammate Gage's father spear and jackhammer his way to the top of every wrestling federation he ever worked for.
