It's been an interesting offseason for the Colorado Buffaloes as they prepare for Deion Sanders' fourth year with the program.
They have made several in-house promotions recently, most notably with Dante Carter replacing Domata Peka as the defensive line coach.
Robert Livingston to the Broncos; Chris Marve promoted to Buffs DC
The Denver Broncos announced on Wednesday afternoon that they are hiring Colorado defensive coordinator Ryan Livingston as their defensive pass game coordinator.
Livingston will be taking over the role previously held by Jim Leonard with the Broncos, who was recently hired as the defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills.
Livingston was in the final year of his two-year contract, which was worth $1.6 million.
Following the announcement, Deion Sanders and Colorado acted swiftly, promoting linebackers coach Chris Marve to replace Livingston.
Before joining Coach Prime's staff, Marve spent two years as Virginia Tech's defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach.
Marved played four years at the University of Vanderbilt, where he was named to College Football News' All-Freshman first-team and also cracked Rivals.com's 2008 Freshman All-American team.
He was also a three-time second-team All-SEC honoree.
He coached at his alma mater for five years, holding roles including defensive quality control coach, graduate assistant, and inside linebackers coach.
He also spent time at Mississippi State and Florida State.
Marve will have some big shoes to fill after Livingston transformed Colorado's defense from 124th to 42nd ranked in 2024, a season where the team finished 9-4.
Last season, Colorado struggled against the run, ranking among the worst nationally, allowing an average of 30.5 points per game.
The Buffs are banking on a revamped defensive line and defensive unit to improve in 2026.
