Shedeur Sanders addresses 'farce' human interest story Lubbock man tried to smear CU with
Shedeur Sanders called out a Texas Tech fan who was selling shirts ahead of the Colorado game and claimed CU wouldn't license a product with the American Flag on it; a situation OutKick's Trey Wallace said "felt like a farce and a way for some guy to make money off controversy."
"That CU don't like the flag or something? Like come on, that's sick at this point," Sanders said postgame following a 41-27 Buffs win over the Red Raiders in Week 11. "Yall just fishing for content at this point. So, that was very disturbing because then what I feel bad for is there are genuine people out there that read the media that don't know us, and they believe the type of lies and type of things, the narrative.
"And some people may not just have the chance to really actually understand what's going on in the situation. But everybody around us and around the team understand that it's week-by-week they’re gonna figure out something to talk about. I dunno, it's just weird, and I feel bad for those people that just don't know us, and they’re judging us based on somebody’s hate towards dad."
Shedeur Sanders having to shut down mindless story shows power of misinformation
There is plenty of officially-branded CU apparel with the American Flag on it. A quick Google search could've spared many in Lubbock, Texas the outrage.
Don't let facts get in the way of a good story, though. Shedeur did, but that's because the story isn't exactly good.
I'd say Texas Tech should've spent less time on this and more on preparing for the Buffs, but the university never got sucked into this nonsense to begin with. Colorado would always be inevitable whether or not there was an outrage over a fabricated story about an independent seller's T-shirts.
